Thumbs up My Rant: TV prices

So anyone that has been to my house knows what I'm talking about when I say my living room TV is too small. Its a 19" and is viewed from about 20 feet give or take. I've been looking to get a new TV for a while, but good lord TV's are not cheap. Why does a 37" TV need to be 800 bucks? That just sucks. So then I think, maybe I'll find a nice used one. So far, a bunch of people that think their 1998 52" bigscreen is worth 450 bucks. GRRRR.... Someone needs to come knock on my door and say:

"Hey, I have this 40" TV in the back of my truck that I really dont want to advertise and try to sell. Its only 2 years old, and I just had this feeling I should knock on your door and offer it to you for 200 bucks. Would you like it?"

haha that is what i'm sure a million other people are hoping for...3 years ago our t.v. cost 3,500 (52 inch) Its not cheap, but you don't usually by a t.v. every two years. Before that, we hadn't bought a t.v. since 1987 and we still have it and use it....soo.....It really depends how much time you spend with the T.V. and if its worth it for you. For our family, watching movies is a great way for us to get together and it was worth the money. We don't have cable or satellite so we don't really watch that much T.V. just a movie every friday or saturday.... Depends on what you want....

For other people buying parts for cars that cost over 2,000 dollars would seem ridiculous but for many its worth it...

Well I thought I'd give an update.... Right after posting this I found a 3 year old 36" TV with a matching stand for $275. Went to look at it, it was in great shape, good picture, so needless to say I now have a new TV...

I thought it a little ironic....

Hmm funny.... I was just given a 30" from about 1998.
Now I need to buy a remote for it.

Just wait and prices will continue to fall just like they do with every tech advancement. I've seen 37" for under $700 on sale and right now that is a cheap price.
