All Pro front swaybar links, FJ Cruiser

Here is a good read on a problem a member had with his All Pro front swaybar links.

http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...ate-links.html

For the record, I bought these on a "spur of the moment" as I was excited to hear that they would not break like the factory ones can when you get super duper articulated.

If they break, there go your CV boots.
Well it seems these new links actually caused the thread authors CV boots to fail when part of the All Pro link flew off his rig.

I am not going to install mine.
A few reasons after much thinking.
For starters these are adjustable, and for the life of me why is that?
They should have been made the exact length as the factory ones.

No instructions were shipped with these, and after seeing the install on many a members rig here, the angle just looks funky.
Some are going out and buying custom washers for it, to me this seems like a temp fix.

I also thought they came painted like in the pictures in the second link, but they do not.

Thanks for the alert. Maybe Wabfab can come up with something. Could the adjusters be for the similar Taco and 4R suspensions?

I am not sure Bob.
All Pro is responding to the first link right now.

Some other guy who is an engineer said he may design some.
I would like to see some that you do not need to adjust at all, and use many spacers to install them.

I don't get it! I read the FJC forum post and no one has seen a OME link break, so why buy after market ones? Is it just to buy as much after market parts as possible? Just becuase it a after market part does that make it better. I don't know but, in this case, it doesn't seem so.

The failure occurs right at the neck of the Heim Joint which obviously can't handle the load.

To me, the easiest solution would be to replace the heims with female shanked heims, and use a hardened grade 8 stud (or 10.9 metric) to connect the heim with the cylinder.

This should eliminate this particular failure.

Here's what I am proposing:

I'll put a set together.

Really good point. Maybe I'll make a set if the OEMs ever actually break.

There are a couple of cases documented over at fjcruiserforums about the stock ones breaking.

That is why I was one of the first few to snag up a set of these.
I have already contacted AP about sending my set back.
These did not get field tested, and many jumped on them quick including me.

why not upgrade the heim joint to a QA1 or other quality joint. The link doesn't look like the prob. the cheap heim.
