Any picks of a Deckplate mod to a T100 airbox?
I was curious what everyone's experience was like with these funky shaped airboxes. Sorry if this is a repost, I went through this last year and determined it was a PIA with out a spare box to cut up. I saw some posts of improved mpg and got intersted all over again.

Well, firstly cause my mechanic said I ought to. I do most of my own work, but when I don't have time or inclination, I take it to a man who knows Toyotas solid. He takes the vehicles in his charge very seriously and chastised me for doing it. I felt a little sheepish... hehe. He pointed out that if placing a hole there would have a net gain to the performance of your truck, they would have put it there.
In addition, without the deckplate hole, my airbox was always spic-and-span clean. It would get a tad dusty over long periods of time, but for the most part it remained quite clean. However, with the hole cut in there, it go really dirty. I could even see evidence of moister in the airbox (before the filter). In any case, the air intake ultimately had to work harder because of how dirty the filter would get so quickly.
Just my $.02.
It does offer a very small gain in gas mileage that I noticed, but that gain requires very frequent filter changes. There's no such thing as a free lunch...
