95 t100 solid axle swap.
Hey yall, I bought a 95 t100 sr5 4x4 that I thought was stock but turns out it was a monster. On my road to return to stock I discovered the rear axle was actually out of a Ford ranger (stamped k6). The truck drove fine in 2wd but would seize in 4x4 and the drive angle was incorrect even though previous owner fabricated the mounts upside down to try to correct it.
I have since got a proper toyota t100 axle with matching axle code put in there but it brought up an interesting question
.
Has anyone successfully solid axle swapped a t100 with one of these Ford ranger k6 axles/diff? the width and gearing is right or at least close (may have to regear) but obviously all new mounting brackets would need to be welded. I assume the cost would still be over a couple grand even already having the axle for disc swap/suspension upgrades.
just trying to see if this is even a viable concept before I decide whether to sell the axle or not.
