Jumped Battery and now no gauges

The title pretty much sums it up. The rear passenger door got left open on my wifes '99 GS 300 and after I jumped the battery (about 4 months old), nothing on the gauge panel works. No lights (gauge lights), no tach, no speedometer, etc. Some of the warning indicators still work. I've checked all of the fuses I can find (about 30 or so) and none of them seem to be blown. Everything else seems to be working fine. I jumped this car once before (with the same vehicle) when I got the old battery replaced and I didn't have any of these problems. Any ideas??

Sounds like a circuit protection problem to me. I know you checked the fuses, but weird stuff can happen. For example, the tachometer on a 99 chevy malibu is dependant upon the fuse to the a/c compressor. Weird huh? But I had a customer come in with exactly that problem.

My suggestion would be to check every fuse again, not just the ones that seem obvious to your gauge problem.

Have you tried to pull any codes? Maybe a module needs to be reset?

Good luck.

Try disconnecting the battery for a while, then reconnect it and see if the problem goes away, worth a shot

get a load of this - I ended up taking it to a auto shop that deals exclusively with Lexus and Toyota to let them take a look at it. after checking all the fuses (again), relays, and all other obvious circuit issues, they told me the next option was to start opening up the dash. the owner (kaki shorts and a sun visor) comes up and says hold on and goes and gets on a bulletin board and finds out that someone had had a similar (but much more extensive) problem. they took the cables off the battery, touched them together, reconnected them, and WA-LA, all better. I would have gotten the name of the website, but I was pushing the feeding envelope with my 6-week-old daughter so I was content to just bug out of there. food for thought.
