Hard to tell without looking at the pump to see just what happened.

I like the Denso pump myself I have always had good luck with there products. I keep a pump on the shelf just in case

I have run Airtex pumps in the past but never on any of my Toyota vehicles.

If you can get a refund go for it if your stuck with just a replacement better luck this time.

I would guess you know the pumps don`t like being run on fumes

Which year truck you have? Have you jumpered the fuel pump test port? I havent heard of Airtek but get mine off of ebay for about $45. Been great pumps and never replaced one yet. Keep the tank a minimum of 1/8th, I fill up at 1/4 myself.

Dont see your location, but in my area the tanks get nasty. She could of pulled alot of trash out of the tank and if the sock on the pump has holes in it could of clogged things up. Also I would suggest seeing if your return line is clogged. Seen that several time and it will add stress to a pump.
