Viper Alarm

So, after a string a break-ins and thefts of 4x4's has hit an all time high in the past week for people I know (and indeed, for most of AZ), I have bought myself a Viper 671XV and put off buying a stereo for a short time so my car is a little more secure home for a nice stereo first. Arg, need tunes but always something else to buy

A few questions-

I'm thinking about one of those piezo sirens for inside the car, do they really do anything? (It seems like 110dB inside would be horrible to try and tolerate if you're after a stereo, without earplugs anyway )

Where can I buy an extra remote? (Perhaps I can't yet, the alarm is supposedly brand-spankin new on the market.)

It's a 2-way alarm so it should do well for my purposes, it gets installed in a week though because that's the earliest I could get an appt at Best Buy

masta,

i've been researching quite a bit here on YT on alarms and ive read more than a few threads about how you dont want to go to places like best buy, circuit city, etc for alarm installs.

the concensus seems to be to go to a reputable alarm shop. ask around. in my opinion, a great alarm and a crappy install is worse than a decent alarm installed correctly!

as for the 2nd remote, just buy it now while you can. or see if they'll give you a discount when you buy it. doesnt hurt to ask.

midiwall here and designsbyme bought a commando alarm. search that term. i'm considering buying it too and installing it myself. its a big job of course, but i'm gonna try it anyways.

well again, do a search on "car alarms", "viper", commando", "ungo", etc and theres a lot of good, hidden opinions/advice in all those threads that come up.
