I am having problems with my 2001 Tacoma alarm system. It no longer works and when I turn on the key the dash lights flash and the starter even flashes on and off until I push the little red alarm button in the dash. While I am driving, a lot of the time the dash lights will start flashing and the only way I can get them to stop is by turning on the headlights. I believe that I have a RS3000 alarm.
does anyone have an idea what the problem could be with this system?

I'm having the same problem, 'cept that sometimes the horn goes off when I'm driving and the only way to stop it is to turn OFF the headlights. The alarm goes off for no reason all the time too - I think the problems are compounded when it is wet outside. I have always loved toyotas, but this electrical issue is frustrating.

 

It should be exactly the same as with an auto. You may have to loop a wire or two so it thinks you have an auto though. Since you aren't supposed to install these on manual transmissions. If you leave it in gear and try and start it, be ready for a hefty repair bill - for your truck and whatever your truck goes through.
