Spend the money for lockers, or upgrade to an 80 series?

Hey guys, new here to the forum. I have a 1995 4runner with the 3vz-e 3.slow. I love this truck even though it's a dog. It will get me up a mountain and it's in really good shape. As I begin doing more challenging off road adventures, one of the things I would like is front and rear lockers. My question is, should I save up and spend the money to put lockers in my 4runner? Or should I use that money on top of what I could get for selling my 4runner and get an 80 series with both factory lockers? Mpg doesn't matter to me. My 4runner is atrocious on gas. I'm also ok with a big slow vehicle. Not buying for speed. Before you say that the LC is bigger and harder to park, I had a 1990 Suburban with a 6" lift on 35s. I like a bigger vehicle. More space to fit friends. Just looking into if it's worth dropping the money in my 4runner, or just getting something that already has what I want.

I’d just go with whatever you like, both are very capable great vehicles. Your gonna have quite a bit more money in a land cruiser and they all don’t come with lockers which would put you back where you are now and still cost more. Or you could get lucky and find one with the lockers I suppose. The front/rear lockers were a option.

I definitely wouldn't get a Land Cruiser without it having the lockers. That would be the whole reason for getting into an LC (besides a little extra space). They are for sale around here, I would just have to do my shopping.

Well the 4 runner crowd is going to say stick with the 4 runner and the land cruiser crowd is going to say land cruiser. It all boils down to what you like. I myself prefer the 94 or earlier pickup. I will say all of the above are the best built vehicles out there and you can’t go wrong with either.

If you do the lockers, Going DIY or farming it out ? - IMHO if you are paying to have that done, I'd find an LC with lockers and go that route instead. You did say you like the bigger truck.
