Question on paint damage

Does anyone know what would've caused this.

There has been no body work done to my 4runner (solid metal under paint damage) and has gotten a little worse since I bought last year. So what would've caused this and do you guys have any ideas on how to slow it down.

Not worth it to repaint.

Very strange. Looks like some kind of chemical was splattered there. Can an egg cause that?
Might try taking fine grit sand paper to it and then repaint with OEM colored paint from the dealership.

Nope, it was there when I bought ot. I do have a carrier rack but I don't use it that often and it doesn't make contact in that area.
