Quadrajet

The Edelbrock 1406 that came with my 350 engine has ceased to function and before I stick another one on I was curious
if anyone has used a Qjet? Reading around on different forums people have some good things to say along with the bad
and that goes for everything though. I'm still reading around to know which model to put on if I can find one. I don't want to over carb the engine...

You’ll find a lot more info on Camaros.net forum about Qjets, but suffice it to say GM used them on Chevy, Pontiac, olds, Buick 327, 350, and lower perf big blocks as well as others for about 100 years. What to look out for? If you are talking simple hot rod street kind of 350, avoid any Qjet with electronic connectors hanging off it except electric choke. Watch where the fuel inlet comes in. Chevys were off to the pass side while Pontiac, Buick, Olds had them centered (iirc). Typically they are 750 cfm and some are 800, but they are variable cfm in truth because the secondaries are vacuum operated. Tuning parts and rebuild kits are available from some Qjet specialty builders like Cliff Ruggles. They are good carbs but most people who bash them prefer Holleys which are simpler to understand and don’t take the time for the Qjet learning curve.
I bought one of these for my warmed-over 327. It ran great.

I really appreciate that information. Thank you. My Yota is a secondary truck so I figured I'd use the downtime to look into QJet....before I did another Edelbrock or the Holley Off-Road Truck Avenger....
