Opinions on buying aRav4
I am in the market for a SUV, I have it narrowed down to 2 Rav4s. The one most likely to get is a 07 sport, black leather, v6, 4x4, premium stereo with sub. It has 76k miles. It has a little paint scraped on the 2 passenger doors and some interior wear. It is 16,500.
The other is a 2010 limited, all the same except, towing package, nav and backup cam. This one has no damage, leather is tan and with pacific blue exterior. It has 37k miles and certified used with extended warranty. Price is 21,900. My wife and I can't seem to choose we want the 2010 but the other is really nice for the price. Thought I would ask here for some opinions.

I think it's really up to personal preference at this point and you'll need to find a flaw to sway your decision. If the 07 isn't that bad on the wear inside/outside, then $6k is a big leap for basically the same vehicle especially if you think it's nice for your family. Not sure how the NAV is in the Rav4s, but in my experience with Toyota NAV (Land Cruiser) I would say get the one without it, and get an aftermarket NAV stereo if you want it. I've learned to HATE the integrated climate controls
I don't know a whole lot about Rav4s, but you may want to look into the service schedule for them since at 76k you might be getting into major service due at around 90k which isn't far away.
I have heard the v6 Rav4s haul ass though and that would be my choice if I were to get a Rav4 -- reason is because I'd basically buy it to mob ON-road as a DD since it'll do very poor offroad compared to a real 4wd vehicle like a Land Cruiser or 4Runner...and I'm assuming you already have another rig for this. Also for the price those Rav4s are, you can find a pretty nice 100-series or 4runner which is my choice. My opinion is biased though because I have never really been a fan of the Rav4 except for the 1st gen ones from the 90s - I think they have much better styling on the exterior...I would love to buy one up just to swap the body onto a solid axle'd frame chassis
Good luck with the new purchase

We bought a 2012 V6 4x4 a year ago and have taken it to Colorado and Oregon. Taking it in for its 10K mile service this week.
Averaging about 25 MPG mixed and the 276HP V6 is nice to have. Have not really had a chance to test the 4X4 but nice to know it's there. The downhill slow acent thing is nice.
I don't have bells and whistles except sunroof - more of a camping/roadtrip/dog car that's meant to get dirty.
Would buy it again in a heartbeat. Agree to get the newer, lower mileage, nicer one if you can afford it
Seems like you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the advice, I let my wife read your posts to help. We really liked the 2010 and was not as quite as sold on it. The 07 had a few extra's like a sport suspension that was noticeable on the back roads, the rims were better looking or least more sporty, the premium audio wasn't on the 2010 and price was hard to beat. My wife drove away with the 07 very happy and me too. I believe, since it is a Toyota, it has a lot of life left.
