Fuel Door Key

Hello, I have a 1991 Toyota Pickup 2WD regular cab and the fuel door lock is broken.
Do those fuel door locks only work with the truck's exact ignition key, or are they a bit generic (that is only uses a pin or two of the key)?
That is, if I get a used lock from the same year truck (1991) should my ignition key work on it?
Thank you....

On many vehicles, the fuel door lock is a separate lock that may or may not be linked to the ignition key. Sometimes it uses a separate key, but in other cases it may be designed to be activated by the same key as the ignition (with a single hook or a generic key).
