Do I need an alignment after replacing struts?

I just replaced the struts and rear shocks on my 2000 toyota 4runner. I was under the impression that I needed to get an alignment to make sure everything was tip top shape. I was going to set up an appointment with a local shop and they said that I probably didn't need an alignment if I only replaced them. I guess it makes sense the coils are in the same position as they were before. The vehicle drives straight without any pull to one side or the other. Besides a better ride I don't feel a difference in the front.
So is it necessary to perform an alignment?

Thanks for your input
Justin

If it didn't need an alignment before it doesn't need one now. The strut/shock/coilover doesn't play a part in alignment on these vehicles. As long as you didn't disturb any of the alignment adjustments in the process of replacing the strut you're fine.

When I did my Front Springs and Struts I did not get a Alignment but did keep a close watch on front tire wear just in case

I did hear about paying attention to tire wear. Thank you.

I did save a bunch of money doing it myself, but what a pain in the but when you are not able to back out the nuts on the rear shocks! Oh well. Done

Thanks for the input, I was on the fence because of course a large tire company said I needed one afterwards. Glad to save $80 bucks when it feels no different than before.
