had to drive my '87 4runner ( 5 spd 22re) in 4 hi after having mechanic replace front axle boot cover....since he touched, front left wheel hooping/banging and clanking when trying to disengage back to 2 wd ( tried numerous...shift on fly, of course reversing in straight line, etc ) would go back into 4 hi/lo
thought i could get away with 1/4 mile drives on pavement with slight turning...went on boat ramp yesterday, had to be pulled off seems lost all 4 wd both hi and lo
prior to last trip seems I had a touch of transfer case " wind up " thought I had relieved going bas
thx againck n forth in reverse in 2 wd ( if I creep I sometimes can go in straight line in 2 wd without clanking, etc.
can anyone tell me what to check and maybe how bad I damaged and if so remedies
