its by mobile 1 and its pretty cheap. can i put it in the truck?
if not, any suggestions on where to get some cheap but good quality auto tranny fluid.
its gotta be something that can go high temps cuz it gets hot out here..

 

It says "Tractor Hydraulic" on it, I probably wouldn't put it in your car.

edit: I just changed the filter and fluid with some Valvoline ATF. I used somewhere around 6-7 quarts and paid under $30. They don't make DEXRON-II anymore so you need something that meets at least DEXRONŽ-III

I wouldn't. Stick with ATF. You can spring for the good stuff since you only have to change it every 30,000 miles or so.

I would go to AutoZone and get Mobil1 ATF. You might find it cheaper online, but by the time you pay shipping you could have just gone to the store.

There is a reason why you find different ATF's in the store. Personally, I do not know the difference between them all and I often wonder what that would be.

As for putting some unknown hydraulic fluid in your very expensive transmission is very high risk. The clutch packs in your transmission are thin, say 1/8 of an inch. A few slips and they are gone!

If you are having heat issues, get an aftermarket transmission cooler. The one Toyota uses works but marginal in my opinion. Heat is the demise of the fluid so keeping it cool will keep you out of trouble.

I have used Allison TranSynd in vehicles that require Dex III. The spec is on the label.
Truck shops have it. About $40 gal.
Whatever you use, make sure the spec for your vehicle is on the label.


Did you see the shipping of the stuff you found is $17.29? Makes it $62.29 a gallon and it is the wrong stuff.
