A340F A340H Bell Housing Compatibility

Hi all, I have a ‘94 4Runner that I swapped with a ‘97 T100 3.4 5VZ-FE wiring harness, ECU, and engine. I kept the A340H with ORS’s adapter harness. Now the A340H is whining, and the consensus from Yota1 and transmission shops is that the H is hard to find parts for and isn’t worth building, plus the hydraulic transfer case sucks power and fuel economy. I was told that an A340F with an IG31 coupled to a RF1A is the way to go. As an intermediate step, I picked up a ‘95 4Runner A340F with a passenger side drop chain drive transfer case that I want to run until I need the strength of the RF1A. All I should need in the future to adapt this to the gear driven setup is the rear housing from a non-T100 A340F and the IG31 adapter.

I’m trying to gather all the parts I need to put in the A340F so that I can complete the swap in a weekend — everything needs to be sorted beforehand because this is my only daily. Now, I was told by ORS and read that a T100 A340F has a different bell housing length than the A340H, requiring some crossmember fabrication that I can’t do in my apartment and that I don’t want to wait to have done by a shop. Since I have a bit of experience with welding, I’m unwilling to pay what a shop would want to gouge for a small MIG job. That’s why I picked up the 4Runner version; it should be close to a perfect fit. But, I was hoping that someone could confirm that the A340H bell housing will mate to the ‘95 A340F I picked up, as unfortunately the transmission didn’t come with the bell housing for $45 I paid for it. I was also wondering what torque converter would work between these two.

If anyone else has any more suggestions, advice, or questions about the project, please don’t hesitate!
