Ye old 22re timing chain guide subject

Hello all, I am a newbie here although I have used yotatech many times in the past-very informative sight!! Hopefully I can find some help here. My story (try to shorten it) I have a '93 4x4 pickup with 22re. At only 88k the guide broke, chain jumped etc....bent valves of course! Since I had no room in the garage and no time I took it to the local Toyota dealer and had them repair it. $2500 later I get the truck back, runs like a clock for 22k before the chain jumps(more on this in a second) and the valves bend. Take back to dealer and they actually tell me that the intake valves are bent but that it is still in valve time!!!! They dont know how the valves got bent but for $1500 they can repair the mystery machine. I tell them to hold up while I "think" about it. They get tired of waiting and push the truck outside so I stop by there tonight and pop the hood. The driver side tensioner is destroyed, about an inch on top is missing and the bottom several inches are gone. Does this seem possible at 22k? FWIW I did take some pics of the carnage as best I could but what do you guys think? Thanks in advance-Jeff

Yeah, I have to agree with Gnarly on this one. Toyota clearly botched the job and if they won't repair it for free I would take to a reputable independent shop and get it done right then maybe try to get Toyota to reimburse you somehow. Good luck.

Thanks guys, that is exactly my gut feeling also. I tried to corner them this morning and as they felt the heat they switched tactics and went with "it must have been defective parts" and said parts are out of warranty. So I have Toyota's customer experience phone number which I will try but I am sure that I just got burned, end of story! Thanks again for the replies.
