I have an 89 pickup with a blown motor. I found a rebuilt 22r out of an 82. Will the 22r out of the 82 fit my 4 speed transmission in the 89? And are there any differences in the motor mounts? Thanks

i put a 82 5 spd in my 89 with a 22r, the only thing i ran into was the guide pins were in the same holes. so check before you install the motor. you can put the 89 mounts on the 82 because you know they fit the truck.

 

If you're serious about 4-speed though, doesn't that mean automatic? I would think that's a bit harder of a swap, but I'm just guessing...

 

Thanks for all the responses. This little motor is like gold around here. I have been looking for one for about a year now. I am almost sure that it has a 4 speed manual I will check in the morning when I go back to the shop
