I can't find the link now, but somewhere I've seen mention of a 3.4 final drive gears that fit the 8" diff. 3.9, too. I'm planning on a diesel swap and no tire upsize, so I'd like to know where to look for gears that won't leave it screaming on the highway.

 

3.4 gears are axle code g38. I think they stopped making those in the 80s.

Thanks. I've seen that reference chart, but it doesn't say anything about what trucks those are actually found on. Any ideas? Say, only pre-82 2WD with a diesel, or something?
