I picked up a 86 pick up over the weekend. However the rearend hops when i turn. So i text the previous owner and he tells me the spiders were welded. Anyone know any good sites to order from? maybe a brand to keep in mind.

 

You didn't pick up on spooled rear end before you bought it?

Sounds like opportunity knocking to put a regeared ARB in ...

 

Not spooled, Lincoln locked or Hobart locked or Miller locked.....two different ways to do the same thing.

Just go to a wrecking yard and pick up a new diff

 

^ this. Or search CL. $50 is the going rate for a used 3rd member around here, you could even sell the welded one for that or more.

Depending on how it was welded, youll need to replace the whole carrier or 3rd, sometimes the spider gears get welded to the carrier also

 

i appreciate it. ill have to keep an eye out on craigslist. how much do you think the welded diff could be sold for if i do decide to sell it?
