so ive been researching this and i kind of know what i want to do.
i dont want to remove the gas tank to get at the new lines, i just want put new ones on. can i just cut the old ones before the gas tank and then hook up the new line run it along where the old ones are and call it good?
what would the best idea be? i want to hold up to off roading since that is where it broke on me.
its a 1986 4x4. any comments welcome. what would you guys do?

 

Honestly, pull the tank (or at least move it to one side, which is what I did) and run a completely new line from front to back. Splices, while possible, are going to be a much bigger headache to do right. That and you're still going to have a section of old line. How long 'til it craps out on you?

If it's worth doing, take the time and do it right.

 

For what is worth You may as well replace both lines the one going to the back and the one coming back up to the front from the LSPV

As for splicing a brake line i have never had luck flaring old brake line it most often just cracks

It can be done without moving the gas tank but while the tank is out you can look at all those parts as well as the frame behind the tank.

 

i talked to toyota and its gonna be 50 bucks for both lines.
i got a wood flatbed so i might just take some planks off it and take a look and see if i can get at them.
