alright well i was looking around earlier and found something on the topic of like, a v6 4runner has stock 4.88 gears or something? and that it cant be regeared, i dont know everything about it, but is this true and how do i get around this problem when i want to do a SAS and have better gears for bigger tires?

I am fairly sure that the 4.88 gears did not come in 4runners until after 1990, and then they only came in the automatic with the 31in tire package. However I could be wrong and someone would have to clarify that. But your 88 probably has 4.10's in it and they can be re-geared.
In your model, I doubt you have the 4.88s, they only came on automatics with the 31" factory tire option. Don't think that was around in '88. You can see what gears you have on the page below:

The factory 4.88 gear housing and gears are somewhat unique. So as I recall, with that housing, you are sort of stuck with the factory 4.88 gears. You can always get a used (non-4.88) housing and put new gears/lockers in that.

on my 88v64runner the stock gears were 410s and when i did my sas i regeared the axles to 488s 488s werent in 4runners until 93 so just put the gears you want
