Random open port on backside of moto

Hi all, I was checking leaks under a newly acquired 91, 22re, 4x4, M/T pickup. The truck is very wet (HURRAY) and then I noticed this opening in the backside of the motor that looks like it should be at the very least blocked off or removed. The guy I purchased the truck from said he did EGR delete an I believe that opening is part of the secondary air intake pipe. However, I am not sure. If it is can it be removed now that the EGR is deleted? I do not like just open holes in motor/motor components so any help would be great!

passenger side, looks up past the transmission/slave cylinder

I have an 87, so I am far from experienced with a 91, but could that be the PAIR (Pulsed secondary Air Injection system. How they get PAIR out of that...) system?
Maybe the air outlet port from the valve?

I dunno. It's my best guess, is all...

Hard to tell from the pictures exactly what and I cant look at my own truck right now to tell you exactly what but it looks like the opening to either the air injection valve to the header or the EGR valve from the motor that was never blocked off. A lot of people remove the air injection system commonly mistaking it for the EGR system.
