R150F transmission 1992 4WD

Installed a used transmission I bought from a junkyard (was not rebuilt). It spits the gear oil out of the relief port on top of the bell housing. I'm pretty sure the gear oil is correct (Castrol 80W-90 jug says, "conforms with GL-4, 5..."). I filled it to the level of the filler port and even drained 3 of the 5 qts to see if it was overfilled...still pushes fluid out. Engine oil level stays steady so I'm pretty sure it's not the rear crank seal. Any thoughts?

I'm not overly familiar with the R150F, but I don't believe there are any ports on the bell housing. It's just a clutch housing and basically an adapter and no oil is there. If it's truly coming from the bell, the front seal may be bad and allowing oil to get on the clutch (which will ruin the clutch) and centrifugal force pushes it out of the bell housing vents, if it's equipped with those. It's usually a squared rubber boot on the W trans. Just a thought...

Rokblok,

That makes a lot of sense. I'll drop it and will post what I find. Thanks for the help!

Update?

I have this same issue going and was thinking it is my rear main seal. If you have pulled the tranny I would be interested in what you found. thanks
