anybody else have one? I can't seem to get it to connect to my computer for updating. Their site/book are a joke...

Well in case anybody else needs to figure this out, it turns out that these readers are kinda "picky" and do not work with a USB -> serial port adapter. I used my work computer which has a built in serial port and it connected and updated. I was able to install the latest U581 software on my U381 scanner.
The U381 goes for about $60 and the U581 goes for about $90-$100, but they are the same on the inside. The only difference is that the U581 can do CAN vehicles. Don't buy it, buy a U381 and put U581 software on it. They both report live data.
Note: I am using this on my 2000 Dodge Dakota, not 92 yota, obviously...
