Question Help please 4runner not moving, only in 4LO

Hi guys I always read the forums and finally joined and not in the best situation, I feel bad that my first post in the forum is this.
The 4runner is my daily, i have many plans for it but have another project i gotta finish first.
I have a 93 4runner with the v6 and its 4wd never had tranny problems its leaks oil just a bit and there is no rear abs.
Here's what happen i was muddying last night nothing bad water only to like half the tire i got 31s and mud well i got stuck and the mud was all the way up to the frame, so when i got home last night i wash the truck, i got the battery disconnected and clean the engine bay with a little bit of grease lightning and just water was careful not getting much by the battery and the fuse box, I also cleaned under the truck and it sat for 12 hours till 11 this morning i took it to work started fine and drove fine i got to work and park. When it was time to go home i started the truck put it in reverse and i think it just rolled not sure but it did engage reverse then i put in in drive and nothing, felt like it was still in park, i heard maybe a bit of noise like it did engage but not completely, then i click the power button in the tranny nothing, put it in low and 2 and nothing, then tried 4hi and nothing and then i click 4lo and it move and i got it to another parking spot because it was in the way and there i move the shifter and nothing i check the tranny fluid and it was red and the level was ok look like always.
I would like to hear some opinion ill go check the car more in depth tomorrow morning soo if you guys can tell me what to look for would be very appreciated

Thanks

so are you saying the truck will only move when i 4wd ? if so then could it be a driveshaft issue to the rear ?

Your tranny is burned out trust me. I had the same thing happen to me a month or so ago. The tranny fluid was fine but you colud smell that it was burnt and it slipped in everything but 4-lo. Im in the middle of doing a 5 speed swap at the moment. You might want to look into that.

... I think the transfer case is done... does reverse work in 4lo? Does it cycle through the gears in 4lo?

some one here had the same thing happen, but it was his transfer case that went bad and made it seem like the transmission slipped. If you lost a gear, like reverse then i'd say transmission.

So I'm going to take a wild guess here...
While you were stuck, you tried to rock the truck back and forth quickly from D to R in 4x4 to try to get out. You blew up your t-case, tranny or both.

For updates the truck is park where i work, today i look at it and the shaft is not moving, I only looked in 2wd and 4hi and also it feels like it goes into gear you can hear it a bit and rpms drop only like 50 rpms.

Yes it cycles thru gears in 4Lo.
Also guys the inevitable happen to me also and at the same time, i saw coolant pouring from the engine at first i tought it was the head gasket but from reading here it usually takes a crap onto the cylinder, soo i tought well maybe a freeze plug i look under and took me like 5 minutes to adress where it was coming from. Its right behind the cylinder 6 and its the head gasket its shooting like a water gun
Im soo depress now ive only owned 2 vehicles my yota and a turbo eclipse.
The eclipse within weeks from getting it started smoking bad bad white smoke finally we got to the conclusion that was a bad head gasket so i went ahead and replace the gasket got the head checked and resurfaced put new cam seals and valve seals in it new timing belt balance shaft belt and after like 2 months got her running it was beautiful car run like a dream no smoke no leaks no check engine lights and 200 miles after that 2 of my rod bearings ate thru the crank and car the metal flakes damaged the turbo and seized up the oil pump, a couple months after that got my runner and i was really keeping up with her till now and i was in the middle of rebuilding the eclipse and now i got 2 i have to fix and i was just looking on advance auto the head gasket set is 230 bucks

I was talking to some people today and yes like you guys said here i also think its the transfer case wich is not too bad hopefully my tranny is alright.
What should i do now what would be the next step ??? that was my daily driver
i was even thinking if i can fix the transmission issue instead of fixing the 3.slow my as well get a 3.4 and put it in there ... what would the price diference be if i can find one for 500 or less onsted of fixing the 3.slow

And thanks guys those where some good replies lets see how everything goes

Yeah a 3.4 swap is not only difficult if you do it yourself but still spendy. Time to go junkyard shopping and see if you can get another 3.0 and a tranny/transfer-case. Where are you located? Maybe one of us is near you and can have a look.

IMHO I'd price out the above vs. price out scrapping it and getting a new runner.

I'm bummed for you this happened. That really sucks!
