Gears

The only input I'm looking for is opinions on if I should go with 4.88 or 5.29 gears. I run 36" tires and wont be going any bigger on this rig.

Are 4.88's low enough to get power back?
Are 5.29's too low, or unnecessary with 36" rubber?

Would appreciate opinions backed with expierience.

Thanks!

yeah with 5:29s and 36's id say freeway would wind the motor out a bit if you wanna do 75mph. but just normal 45-55 no problems.

My old Sami had 5:29's and 33's and I took it on the freeway all the time and it did 75 at about 4500rpm.
After having 5:29's I wont go back....im getting them for my yota. 22R with 33's.

well considering 31's came with 4.56. 4.88's should be used for 33's and 35's should use 5.29's. 38's and bigger should use 5.71's. All of which should keep RPM similar on the highway. Not saying it brings highway speeds back as anything bigger then 33's are heavy as heck to turn at any speed regardless of gears.
