I have a 88 4runner with a 4 cyl with fuel injection. that I have had for about a year. It starts and ran fine until yesterday. While driving the engine bogs down then starts again. like I ran out of gas.(no dash lights came on) Ran off and on like this but I did make it home. I let it sit for a few hours starts right up rev's up fine. Drove it down he street and is stalls out will not start. Pushed it home and then it starts I put in the driveway with no issues.

The check engine light works at start up like it should. Does comes on when engine bogs down. Any ideas what it could be? I am wondering if it the fuel pump going?

 

You need to check for any stored codes and go from there. Sometimes if the TPS is going bad it can cause the problem your having, but the first thing i would do is replace the fuel filter, it can also cause the problems that your having, and a fuel filter is alot cheaper than a TPS sensor.
