Front end tear down Q about Birfield

This is my first time tearing my front end down but I've done it on a buddy's IFS down to the CV. My question is when I get to the birfield, can I slide the inners out just enough to get the diff out.

I'm wanting to weld my front end up for now until I can get a Detroit or ARB and new gears. Just want to know if a full tear down is necessary. I've got the rear done but I need some more forward momentum. Thanks in advance.

I believe that would work, but I would pull them & change the inner axle seals while I had it torn down. Clean & repack with fresh grease couldn't hurt either.
