Clutch Problems

I have a 1988 Toyota Pickup with the 3vze motor in it. Where I live it has been cold that last couple mornings and I noticed my clutch was very weak and then checked my fluid reservoir and it was empty but the day before when it was 60 out my clutch worked just fine.

Has anyone had the same problem or have a solution to why it is doing that?

You got a leak if the reservoir was empty. Fill it up, find the leak. Fix.

I had a similar problem on my 1988 with the 22re in it. I was driving on the freeway, and suddenly the clutch lost all pressure. Down by the clutch slave cylinder, the hard line had vibrating for a long time and caused a hairline fracture in the line. This caused my to lose just a bit of fluid each time I used the clutch. I didn't notice it until I had no clutch. Might want to check down there maybe.

Red face

The cold snap if it dropped real quick and you had moisture in the fluid could have caused a piston to freeze fast.

When you pushed the pedal it was enough to cause a failure.

Be interesting to see what happens

Not to long ago I replace my clutch master and slave cylinders. Mine was leaking into the cab from the master and leaking out of the piston on the slave. I got the parts and started the work when I was re-hooking up the hard line the end of it just fell off. Vibration kills the hard line for sure. But, with all three leaks I could still put fluid in it and drive it for a few weeks until it ran back out of fluid.

The parts are cheap and its an easy fix.
