Bargain buy, major headache?

I just purchased a 94' 4runner about 2 weeks ago, With the sole intention to use it for work, but after a 375 mile trip to bring it home and and the last 2 weeks driving it, I have fallen in love with it.

I purchased it for $1500, it's a SR5 3.0 V6 w/ 211k miles, everything works in it with the exception of the A/C and the rear two windows which sound like they have just came of track or the gears are broke, but both motors work. The 4 wheel drive works but feels and sounds like it is in need of more than minor servicing.

My question is, is it worth it to start this as a project or should I buy one that is in better condition and start from there. I am looking to do trails and minor rock climbing or bump climbing rather lol. I want to put a small lift on it and mount some 33s with 1.5" spacers. I also was considering a diesel swap. Any input is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Don't hear to many good things about the 3.0 but other than that I say if you like it build it, to each his own. Mine had many problems when I bought it and for more than you spent on yours lol. Where's the pictures!¿

up to you whether or not to keep it. most likely won't find one in better condition at the price. i would do the mild lift (like an OME lift), 33s/regear/lockers?, fix the rear windows, and drive it. if the engine blows, do the 3.4L swap - it's almost plug and play and will be much easier than a diesel swap. the AC can be a bit tricky - really depends on which system you have (r12 vs 134a) since it's around 93/94 that the switch happened - which will determine how much the refill will cost once the system is repaired leak-free.

I'll look into the 3.4 swap, these diesel just intrigued me is all, great mileage and tons of torque, I'm looking to spend about a grand a month, another problem I am having is when in 4wd I drove it through gravel and one at a time it sounded like the wheels were locking up for a split second and it would just rotate through the wheels.
