Balancer/Seal on 22RE Question, HELP

22RE w/233,000 miles, don't know much about the truck, just got it a month ago. Had oil leak @ front seal. Put a new seal in with NO problems,, (none of the ones I've read/heard about getting the bolt loose, etc). Didn't even have to put puller on the balancer to remove it. Tapped it w/brass hammer a couple time and slid right off... seal now appears to be leaking worse than it was to start with. There was a pretty good groove in the balancer where the old seal ran. Question is how good is the sleeve type fix,, OR given lack of problems getting old balancer off should I buy a new balancer and forget the sleeve.?
Thanks in advance for any input,
BB

I recently rebuilt my 22RE and used the speedy sleeve on the crank and have not had an issue.

There are a couple different oil seals that that ride in different places on the pulley. Like the lip is in or out more so it isn't on the groove. I'm having luck with that now. I inadvertently speedy sleeved over a speedy sleeve like five years ago and of course it always leaked a little. I went to take em off during a rebuild a few months ago and dinged the pulley up pretty good so I had to replace it. Don't jb weld the sleeve on there. I think you're supposed to install a sleeve dry (maybe check the manufacturers website) but if you must use something use like locktite or something easy to clean off if you ever need to.

Go to Toyota and order: "The type T oil seal part number 90311-45014"
The seal that you have is probably about 12mm and the type T seal is thinner; so it will not ride in the old groove.
Some photos would be cool.
