I have a 1994 Toyota 4x4 3.0v6 A/T I recently replaced the fuel pump old one was whining very loud. I replaced it with a Boch fuel pump it was fine for a few days then it started having problems starting. When it did start it was like it was (loaded up) and some light greyish smoke came out. It immediately clears up and runs fine if you shut it off and restart no smoke its fine, if you let it sit there for say 5min or more the problem appears again. I changed the tea bag filter on end of pump also required for warranty I never had this problem with the other pump even with it on its way out is this a faulty pump? or another prob
there is no check engine light on. Thanks for any input you may have on this problem.

 

I wonder if changing the pump knocked rust loose that is now clogging the filter.

If you could hear that fuel pump it really had to be screaming.

outside of putting a fuel pressure gauge on and measuring pressure to know for sure.
