I have a 94 4runner 4x4 4cyl 22re 135000 miles. The oil pan gasket recently started leaking and I want to replace it. Any suggestion on how to do it?

this could be totally wrong but on the truck at work some times we have to bang on the starter be cause it gets a little hung up.

No problem.

 

If you don't have a lift, you'll probably need to remove the front differential as that will get in the way.

drain the oil
remove front differential
remove oil pan bolts
remove oil pan (could be a pain as it likes to stick on. Small hammer and putty knife with gentle taps works well)
clean both mating surfaces
apply oil pan gasket maker (you can get it from the dealership or I think its just black FIPG sealant). Don't use a cork gasket.
reattach oil pan
put bolts back in, starting from point A and working your way around, finger tight. Go back again and re tighten, then go back and torque to spec.
reinstall front diff.

You need to remove the diff as already stated to remove the oil pan, BUT, you can lower it about and inch (if I remember correct) and beef up the gasket where its leaking with gasket maker and then put it bolt it back on a little tighter. It has worked for me with 10w30 synthetic and 5w30 dino. After 3 months, there isn't even a film of oil on the pan.
