87' auto/manual hub swap
The guy I bought the rnnr from (and several of you) have said how weak the auto hubs are from the factory. Also how tough the factory manual hubs can be. What is the basic procedure for swaping hubs? A major pain, or off, on sort of thing??? Any advice will help, im in the middle of a small rebuild on a little bit of everything.

I started to suggest a search, as it has been discussed many many times, with pics. But the searches have been spotty lately...
Could not be simpler.
Remove the nuts, washers and cone washers from the drive flange, remove the dust cap, then the bolt and washer from the end of the axleshaft.
Or, for auto hubs, just remove them with the nuts, washers and cone washers and pull them off.
Put the new hub bodies on, replace the cone washers and nuts n washers.
Insert the hub mechanism, install the 6 cap screws. (Do not overtighten.)
Test.
Not a bad idea to tear down and relube the hubs first.

Make sure they seat right, I ended up with alot of broken parts after I swapped mine. It's not too bad tho. If I felt like it id find the writeup on 4x4wire.
