Question 38 dgas vs 32/36 weber carb

I'm rebuilding a 22r and doing the 20r head swap on a 79 toyota pickup. The carb pulled out of the donor truck is a 38 dgas. What are the advantages of this carb/engine combo over having a 32/36 carb? In terms of fuel usage, over carbing the engine, etc. This is my first rebuild and its a steep but awesome learning curve.

I've read that the 38 will handle more upgrades, like an aggressive cam, bigger Pistons, etc, if you're doin the hybrid engine with bigger valves and things like that, the 38 might suit you pretty well. I just just know that kawazk936 built an engine and sold his 32/36 to buy a 38 because it needed more fuel. You could have a nice, powerful setup!

Thanks bootscootboogie- you make a good point about the 38 probably being a better fit for the 20r head. This truck is being built as a long distance adventure mobile that can also go play in the mud. Trying to balance power and efficiency.
