Maintenance @ 72k, anythig I should do by now ?

So my '03 V8 4wd is about to hit 72k and I am wondering if there is anything I should have done ?

So far, I have changed the oil about every 7.5k (I am running synthetic)... I'm on my 3rd air-filter. Around 20k I put Amsoil in the f&r diffs and transfer case... Have has the fuel system/injectors cleaned @ 33k and have run FI cleaner through it every so often. Other than break pads, that is it.

The manual mentions not much of anything to have done.

I need new rotors, but Brembo only seems to offer the rears at this time (Toyota turned the front w/o my asking and its gotten fairly bad) and have a audible "sheesh sheeesh" when I break... Also a deep squeek someplace in the rear when going over speed bumps (fast), but shock performance has not suffered... I have the X-reas.

I was thinking of having the tranny fluid changed and the fuel filter as well.

Oh, yea... What should be used to lube the sunroof ? Mine has developed a nasty screech when I open it, lithium grease ?

Yes, flush tranny and coolant. How about the spark plugs. Maybe a complete lube.

Interesting you mention that...my Pathfinder has the same thing; but it starts when the sunroof has slid back all the way and I'm still holding the button. I have not found a cure for it yet; the sunroof also works when it wants to.

I'm very curious to see what it is.

Paul H. Toyota says nothing about replacing the plugs until 100k on the V8 (actually, I think it maybe be more than that, but I don't have the spec's handy.)

G4R, No, this is while it is rolling back.... "errrrrrr" the whole way back. I always drive with it open, do it gets about 4 round trips each day.

OK. Here's my go on this:

1. As Paul mentioned, flush the coolant. I think it is supposed to be done at either 30K or 60K. I did mine at 30K, but AZ tends to get a bit toasty during the summer, so it is well worth keeping the coolant system happy. BTW, do this at the dealer - getting rid of the old coolant is a pain (and DON'T flush it down the drain !).

2. Tranny fluid is a toss-up. Since you have an '03 with the fill-tube, I'd say go for it. I do mine every 5 - 10k and it is nice and cherry red. If you do this yourself, be sure to fill it ALL the way up !

3. Sunroof squeek. Been a pain in my butt since I bought it. Best stuff is white lithium grease. You'll need to take the sunroof out to get to the tracks, but liberally spread the stuff onto the tracks. Welcome to the club - you'll be doing this yearly for the rest of the time you own the truck !

4. "Squeek in rear-end". Check your spare tire. Make sure it is TIGHT against the frame. My spare will squeek against the frame when I enter my driveway if I don't have it good and tight.

HTH.
