Fan seems to only have Low and High

On my 08 Tacoma, my in cab fan seem to only having two settings low for the first three and full blast for high.

As you switch the dial between the first position nothing seems to change until you get to the forth position(high) then you get the full blast setting.

Is this a common thing or is it just me.
It would be nice to have a medium fan setting.

Not sure about '08s', but most earlier models that I am familiar with have a resistor module somewhere in the heater ducting near the blower motor (for cooling). The current that runs the blower motor runs thru the several different resistance coils on this module to change the blower speed. Sometimes the coils on the module fail.

From the EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog), the '08 has a Resister, Blower located just to the left of the blower fan assembly. The Resister is about a $30-50 part here in the States.

Also, some of the newer controls do interesting things with the way settings (i.e. defrost, damper settings, etc.) interact. Take a quick look in the owners manual and see if anything pops out.

Thanks,
I look in the manual to see if anything seems different.
And I'll look into the Resister Module for the blower.
