CA Legal Cold Air Intake for '07 Tacoma V6?
I searched for related threads and didn't find anything, so forgive me if this is a repost...
I'm in CA, and looking to put a cold air intake on my '07 Tacoma. The only ones I've found online so far say they are not CA legal; one says it is approved for off-road use only. My question is this: Does anyone know of a CA legal cold air intake that's worth the $300+, and/or how do you get around using one that is approved for off-road use only? Do you put the original intake back on every 2 years to get it smogged?
Thanks for any advice.

yo might just be SOL and have to deal with the stock intake there in CA... the best you might be able to do is a drop-in filter, but even then I'd stay away from any oiled filter that you have to clean and re-oil (such as K&N) because all those are junk anyhow... it's best to stay with a dry element filter, and there are some decent aftermarket dry element filters out there

im partial to K&N myself and have had sucess with them increased fuel economy and power for me that was on my 5.7l v8 silverado now on my toyota bought it with one so cant compare on my TDI jetta not even worth it VW had a perfect filter fromt he get go i just wasted my money on that one
id get the after market and just swap over for testing im not sure but you should be able to a k&n stock filter replacment that should help some
and the complaints about the oil filters are justified but if you know what youre doing they work fine
tips
lightly oil very little
clean your maf often with a good cleaner (failed testing on my tdi because i overlooked these )
keeep cleannnnnn
hope this helped you some

what ever you use, dont use any oiled filters. i replaced a bunch of MAF because of people over oiling their filters. made me alot of money
AEM has dry flow filters now that dont need any oil, i would use one of theirs if you can

I had a K&N intake in my old '05 Tacoma..too loud, sucking sound in the interior, no noticeble increase in power or mileage...
Ran it for 5K miles, sold it on ebay for more than I paid for it...
