wrong main bearings

My son has a 87 4runner that he begain the process of rebuildings. Ne had the block redone at a machine shop and worked with them on bearing sizes when the crank and case came back. We went to install the crank and realized the bearings were wrong. When we torqued the mains there was visible play and no deformation to the plastigauge. The machine shop has since gone out of business. how do i find the correct bearings size, I currently do not have a micrometer. I am concerned that other machine work is incorrect.

87 4runner. Which engine? What was done to the block? How did you work with them about bearing sizes when the crank and case came back? Visible play...up and down or left and right? how much visible play? You should have a micrometer if you are going to assemble an automotive engine. Can you borrow a micrometer from some one? You don't spell very well. Do you know how to use a micrometer?
