What kind of brake pads are OEM?

Needing to do brake pads on my truck, but the nearest toyota dealer is very far away. The local auto parts store wants to sell me $100 ceramic pads, Canadian tire wants to sell me $50 semi-metallic. Is there a big difference between the two?

O.E. is organic, the creamics are made for newer vehicles with softer metal in the brake rotors. Get the semi-matalics, it's as close to O.E as you will ever get. The ceramics might make a lot of noise.

I always just buy Yota OEM parts. Never had any issues with them. Plus they are cheaper than that.

those prices are pretty high. Semi-metallic will make less noise, but wear out faster. Ceramic will make more noise, but last longer. Either way thats pretty expensive for a pair of pads...
