What gears did I just buy?

I just bought some gears he said they were 4.88 I don't know how to count to see what gears complete 3rd members it was from a 91 v6 auto 4runner with the g144 code in the door. Just when I got home I see a reddish paint on the gears. He's installing them in the next couple weeks charging about 250

Red paint cold be 3.90, have one with that.

Count the ring gear teeth and divide that number by the number of teeth on the pinion gear.

G144 code didn't start until 92 model year (so if it was a late 91 model year production you may have 4:88). The way to verify what gears you have is mark one of the ring gear teeth then count them. Next mark on of the pinion teeth and then count them. Then divide the ring gear by the pinion. Also the pinion/driveshaft mounting flange should have a paint mark.

Pink = 4.10
Blue = 4.30
Yellow = 4.56
White = 4.88

If they are actually 488's, then that is a great deal IMO. I paid a little more than $400 for my front + rear 488's.
