Tried to post a pic but keeps telling me something about exceeds quota or some ˟˟˟˟, anyway, I noticed the bolts that run through the shackles (trail gear kit) do not have any washers behind the nuts top or bottom. Is there a reason for this or we're they just overlooked?

 

I don't think they're necessary. Even shackle kits from Marlin Crawler don't come with washers. I made my own shackles for mine, using Marlin Crawler hardware and I don't have any washers on mine. It's been about 9 or 10 months and they're still as tight as when I installed them.

Cool thanks, I wasn't very concerned, just wondering of they didn't put them on for a reason (more movement ha ha) I guess I'm just a guy that likes things to look complete you know.

But some other advice: in the OEM Toyota repair manual, it states that the torque applied to those shackle bolts is (if I remember right) 70 to 75 ft. lbs.

 

In the Haynes manual it also says to torque them down, this leaves little or no movement (in my shackels at least, new bushings on stock suspension in '87 truck)
So do you recon is it just as well to go with a nylock nut and let them have some room to move?

 

you dont need any washers the shackle metal is thick so washers are not needed with the match fit hole.
do not torque them down to OE speck because they are not OE or even close. OE has a set depth on the bolts so it can not be over tightened since the threads/bolt end.
tighten them down so they are snug ... go for a drive and double check them
