Up and Going
Finally picked up my Pickup after it was down for about 6 months for a Headgasket. While it was down I purchased a CFS Radiator and Cap. The original radiator had lived in the truck (apparently) since birth so I decided I would replace it all the way. Plus I got it cheap on some kind of deal on Amazon 150 bucks. (I think someone bought the wrong one and then relisted and sold it), But it was new. I also scored a similar deal on HPS Hoses. I picked up a new thermostat and few other things while it was down. This was at 197K.
Of course in the months prior to the blown head I had replaced the Clutch, rear main, timing belt, water pump, new cat/muffler (magaflow), pcv, spark plugs/wires/cap... a bunch of stuff.
A month ago I got into it and found I had a cracked head. Passenger side had the crack.
So it all got put back together and so far there is about 200 miles on the rebuilt head gasket and I am off and going.
I am wondering if anyone who has done a rebuild has any advise on a break in procedure. Well a successful break in procedure. The guy that did the rebuild loaded it up with full synthetic oil.
My EGR was playing games right when I picked it up. But I think we got it worked out. (If it comes back I will prob delete it ).
Next up Steering Parts. Cant believe how much the Control Arm Bushings are. Poly is cheaper but I worry about the squeak in time. I already have the Proforged Idler Arm from 4Crawler.
Last I will need a bed liner/ I want to bedliner my headache rack and front bumper. A new rear bumper would also be nice.
Any how here comes some pictures … Enjoy...
This thing has cost a ton. I guess I love it.
