trans

just wondering, i got a 1990 yota, with the 3.0L v6, 5-speed, and when i go muddin, my tranny usually packs up with mudd, EVERY bolt on the bell houseing is super tight, where could it be coming in from?

Hmmmm The mud is prolly windshield deep. Mud can get in anywhere it wants

you're talking around the torque converter?
do you still have the inspection plate... um I mean rubber plug... installed?

Its a 5 speed, no torque converter.

When you say "packs", thats subjective and difficult to picture. How do you know there is a lot of mud (as opposed to a bit) without dropping the tranny?

Its not supposed to make a perfect seal. If your rear seal goes, its better than oil leaks on to the ground than fills the bellhousing and causes the clutch to glaze over

You could duct tape up the little gap between at the front bottom of the bellhousing and any other little hole or gap you find. Remove the tape a couple times a year, and I can't see any problems.

so could be coming in around the release lever

Good point, I'm assuming you mean the clutch release lever. If the boot that covers it is torn, mud might be able to get in that way. I've never looked under the boot though...

Mud really messes up truck. Stay away from Stave flats BCBIGROLLER.
