Timing

Just put a new headgasket in and set the vavlves but want to advance my timing more.... It is past the book limit but seems to run better.... is it ok as long as she runs good????

make sure to listen closely when the engine is under a load...flooring it up a hill for example. listen with the windows up and the radio off, for pings. advancing your timing may require you to use higher octane gas

whatever you do, listen closely for knocks and pings, and if you're getting them, back the timing off or use better gas. you will probably also get decreased gas mileage...that goes hand in hand with more power. personally, i'd say just advance it as far as you can to be able to run it on regular gas and not get any pings
