Well.. I have been reading a lot of threads I searched through (particularly this one https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...t-leak-132709/) and I snapped a couple of pics of where I'm leaking from.

You can see the green speck of coolant pooled up there. When the engine is running it usually (but sometimes randomly) flows out fairly steadily. It is normally a much larger pool.

Now the thread I mentioned above had a guy with a problem that sounds a LOT like mine. Here is the pic of where the leak was discovered. Do you think this could be my leak? The OP of that thread and jtlinna3vze seem to have the same problem.. I think it's mine too.

I think it's MUCH more likely you have a leak from one of the rubber hoses passing coolant thru your Throttle Body. Comes in from the back & out the front.

 

I think it may be your drivers head gasket. Does the truck run funny? it could also maybe be a colant line going to your throttelbody but im not sure

 

hmm.. well my leak was only visable from the back of the heads to the bellhousing down.. everything cept the coolent by the throttle boby makes me think its the same.. check your throttle body and the coolent line that runs though it. if everything checks ok. you may have the same leak.. that last link you have with the expanded view of the coolent system.. the metal tube with the green dot on it is the one i was talking about.. The OP of that thread had a crack in it.. mine the gasket at the end where it connects to the top of the block is where it was leaking.. find out if your head gasket kit came with that gasket.. if it did and they didnt replace it. id make whoever did your HG's put it in..

 

also.. from the pics from under the truck its leaking like a mother... it shouldnt be hard to trace where the highest point is that its comming from.. if you start saying to yourself after inspection that it seem to be mostly comming from that top of your bellhousing but cant quite pinpoint it. thats also a big clue.. in this case the only thing to do is take the upper and lower intake off.. and check for pooling between the heads.. although bad head gaskets can leak on the inside and cause the same symptoms. but im sure youd have white smoke in your exhaust...

 

I did just have my headgasket done by my mechanic - not to say it couldn't have failed again though. I will check the line to the throttlebody also. The truck runs very well though.. doesn't seem funky at all.

jtlinna3vze, thanks for takin a look! I'll check all that out too. My truck has white smoke comin out, but it doesn't smell like coolant at all... plus it's about 30 degrees and the smoke goes away after a minute or two of warm up.

Now.. I've gotta take the intake plenum off. Where do I start?? Ha, I know it's not that bad, but does anyone know of a link/writeup that would help me out? I'm having trouble finding one.

Also - is it safe/ok to turn the engine on while the plenum is off to try and find the leak quickly?

I've never done this before, so any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

 

deffinately check the throttle body hoses
There is also a small U shaped hose right next to the other guys leak that went out on my truck. I would also check the big heater hose that runs across the firewall. Looks to me like it's probably one of those hoses at the Tbody.
