I have an 87 runner and I am looking at swapping in another engine. Do I need to be concerned with the year of the engine that I swap in, or will any 22RE work properly when plugged in to my existing computer?

 

the easiest thing to do is unbolt the intake manifold and all associated sensor from the engine that's in your truck, and swap it on to the new engine. the plugs changed over the years and this will avoid a lot of frustration -- the upper intake has to come off to install the fuel injector plugs anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.
