Transmission or transfer case? But either way, I'd remove the shifter again and be sure you got it in the shift forks rights. (For both the transmisson and case)

FWIW, I recently had this issue on my FJ Cruiser. Yes, of course, the transmissions and transfer cases are different. I could move between 4L (LL) and Neutral, but not past there.

I tried everything: rocking, twisting, pushing, pulling, swerving, braking, spinning, washboards, jerking, etc. and nothing worked. Then....after about 75 more miles on the trail and when i said I was going to call off the trip to find a mechanic before everyone closed up for the weekend, the shifter moved just like it should. I took off the witches hat to make sure all was in order, and there was nothing outside the TC that indicated an issue -- it was inside. I have no idea other than driving what got it to work free, but it was fine for several hundred miles more, moving freely in/out of 2/4/Lock as it should.

My advice? Keep driving on non-paved surfaces to see if it'll come free, but attempt to move the level frequently.

Thanks to you guys for the reply.

Last night before I made the post I had driven it for an hour and unfortunately it did not free it up but probably would have worked if I drove longer. When I removed my shifter I used a screwdriver to pry it to nuetral bad that's freed it up
